How to Translate a PDF with DocFila

Google Translate works for plain text, but a 30-page contract or a magazine-style PDF needs more than pasting text. DocFila's PDF translator reads the text of each page, translates it with cloud AI, and gives you a bilingual PDF. It does not keep the original layout: the output is plain text blocks, the original followed by the translation.

Translate a PDF in DocFila

Open the PDF and choose Translate PDF. Pick the target language from the 20 offered (the source language is detected for you). Tap Translate, review the result, then save the bilingual PDF. PDF translation is a premium tool with 5 free uses on the Free plan, and on Free a PDF is translated up to 5 pages. Pages with more than 8,000 characters are cut, and DocFila tells you when that happens.

Languages supported

Translate scanned PDFs (image-based)

DocFila translates the text layer of a PDF. A page with no text layer is skipped and marked run OCR first, so run OCR on a scanned PDF (the scanner does this on your device for Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari text) before you translate it.

Bilingual mode

The result is always bilingual: the original text, then its translation, page by page. That suits legal review, language learning, or sharing with international colleagues. Check key passages against the original.

Privacy

PDF translation is done by cloud AI, so the text of your PDF is sent to Google's Gemini through DocFila's servers; there is no on-device translation mode. DocFila does not train any model on your content. See AI data handling, and do not translate documents that must not leave your device.
