Make a Passport Photo on iPhone (2026)

By DocFila Team · April 30, 2026 · 6 min read

A pharmacy or post office charges for every set of passport photos. With DocFila on iPhone you can crop your own photo to the exact size of the document, line your face up with a head-size guide, and print the sheet yourself. DocFila does not check the photo against the issuer's rules, so compare it with those rules before you submit it.

Why a home passport photo can work

A modern phone camera has more than enough resolution for a passport-size print at 300 dpi. What decides whether an office accepts the photo is the issuer's rules: lighting, expression, head size and background. DocFila helps with the size, the framing and the background; checking the rules is up to you.

Make a passport photo with DocFila

  1. Open DocFila and choose ID Photo Maker.
  2. Pick the document (passport, visa, ID, or a custom size in millimetres).
  3. Take a photo or import one.
  4. Zoom, move and rotate it to line your face up with the guide. Where the issuer publishes a head size, the guide shows it.
  5. Optionally remove the background and choose a colour. Background removal runs on DocFila's online photo service, and the app asks before it uploads the photo.
  6. Save the cropped JPEG for an online application, or make a print sheet on 4×6 in, 5×7 in, A4 or Letter paper.
  7. Compare the result with the issuer's current photo rules before you print or upload.

Document presets

The presets cover passports for about 25 countries and regions — for example the US (2×2 in), the UK (35×45 mm), Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico — plus US, Canadian, UK and EU/Schengen visas, a US green card, a US driver's license, a work permit, a student ID and a corporate ID. A preset sets the document's size. Anything else you can enter in millimetres.

Print at home or at a print shop

Export the print sheet and print it on photo paper at home, or take the file to a print shop. The sheet holds as many copies as fit on the paper, with a small margin and a gap to cut along.

Free uses and Premium

The ID Photo Maker is a premium tool: the Free plan includes 5 free uses and Premium has no free-use limit. See pricing for the current plans.
