How to Install DocFila on Windows 10 & 11
By DocFila Team · September 4, 2026 · 4 min read
There are two ways to run DocFila on Windows. The desktop app is a signed 64-bit installer (.exe) for Windows 10 version 1809 and Windows 11, available on the desktop download page. You can also install the DocFila web app from Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome in under a minute: its own window, a Start Menu entry, and the same account and documents as on your phone and Mac.
What you'll need
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 — any edition.
- Microsoft Edge (pre-installed), Google Chrome, Brave, or Vivaldi.
- No admin rights: the web app installs into your own user profile, so it also works on managed work and school PCs.
The desktop app
DocFila for Windows is the same app as the Mac release — the DocFila Reader plus the document tools. Download the installer from the Windows section of the desktop page (or docfila.com/download/windows), run it, and sign in. It installs for your user only, so it does not ask for administrator rights. A new signing certificate has no download history yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show a notice the first time: choose More info, check that the publisher reads NotaNovice UG, then Run anyway. The desktop page lists the SHA-256 checksum of the installer.
Method 1: Install the web app from Microsoft Edge (recommended)
- Open www.docfila.com in Edge.
- Look in the address bar for the Apps icon on the right side.
- Click it, then click Install this site as an app.
- Confirm the name DocFila and click Install. Edge offers to pin DocFila to the taskbar and the Start Menu — accept whichever you use.
Method 2: Install the web app from Google Chrome or Brave
- Open DocFila in Chrome or Brave.
- Click the install icon on the right side of the address bar (a small monitor with a down arrow).
- Click Install.
- DocFila is added to the Start Menu and your desktop. To pin it, open the Start Menu, find DocFila, right-click → Pin to taskbar.
Working side by side
The web app needs a network connection to open and view your documents; for offline work on Windows use the desktop installer. On Windows 11, hover over DocFila's maximize button to place it in Snap Layouts next to Word, Outlook or Teams.
Uninstalling
Open the Start Menu, find DocFila, right-click → Uninstall, or go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find DocFila and choose Uninstall. Your synced documents stay in the cloud.
